The following steps will assist you in setting up an e-mail account on a Samsung Galaxy A5:
1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon and then select Email.
2. Enter your e-mail address and password.
Note: If an e-mail account has been created already, do the following instead:
- Tap MORE.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Add account.
- Enter your e-mail address and password.
3. You will be prompted to select the type of account you are using: Select IMAP account.
4. You will now be asked for the Incoming server settings:
- User Name: this must be the full e-mail address (e.g.: mail@example.com)
- Password: the password for this e-mail account.
- IMAP Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
- Security Type: None
- Port: 143
- Tap Next to continue
The phone will verify your incoming settings.
5. You will now be asked for the Outgoing server settings:
- SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
- Security Type: None
- Port: 587
- Require sign-in: this option must be ticked.
- User name: this must be the full e-mail address (e.g.: mail@example.com).
- Password: the password for this e-mail account.
- Tap Next to continue.
The phone will verify your outgoing settings.
6. On the Sync settings screen, you will be prompted to set the Sync schedule. This determines how often your phone will check for new e-mail.
7. Select or de-select the Notify me when email arrives box.
Tap Next.
8. On the Set up email page, you will be asked for the following:
- Give this account a name: this is an on-screen description of the account.
- Your name: this is the name that will appear next to your e-mail address when you send mail.
